Well, I have. My friends have. And I’m sure most of you also would have wished for it. But we know the truth that such a magical gadget doesn’t exist. So what is possible is that we need to create a way within ourselves to flip our lives.
This is my first blog post and I'm trying to explain the importance of three little things in our lives that can play a huge role to detoxify our mind and get us reconnected to our lives stronger. Also, three significant steps are suggested, which are connected to each factor explained here, to implement in our lives to keep our mind intact.
Eat, Pray, Love:
I know the title would have taken you to the popular movie of Julia Roberts - ‘Eat, Pray, Love’. For the people who haven’t watched the movie, it is based on Elizabeth Gilbert’s bestseller book - ‘Eat Pray, Love’ and it does justice to the author’s true story with Julia Robert’s brilliant performance.

Through the book, the author walks us through her journey in search of three important things that she has been missing in her life – pleasure, devotion, and balance.
Although this blog post isn’t about the book or movie, it certainly has some connection since I’m also trying to emphasize on the importance of these three little things in our lives, to keep our mind healthy and get us reconnected to our lives.

1. Eat:
Did you ever notice that having your favourite hot pizza or a chocolate sundae with vanilla ice cream on a bad day can instantly cheer up your mood? It’s true because certain food contains compounds that have been proven to control our moods and make us feel good when we consume them.

Similarly, doing something that we love like cooking, painting, dancing, learning a new skill, going for a long drive, hiking, a beach visit, etc. can also bring instant pleasure to us. It’s also because happy hormones come as an outcome of how we spend our time doing what we love.
Our mind requires constant happiness boosters to discard the junk we fill it with and to stay happy. As we get busier in life with our career, family responsibilities, household chores, etc., we often tend to forget or might find it less important to keep an eye on the healthy state of our mind. This can pile up the toxicity in the mind and leads to feeling emptiness, low, unhappy, and disconnected with life.
If not leaving everything and focusing completely on our sanity, we can do at least the below mentioned key step to keep our mind intact.
- Feed your mind correctly and regularly -
Nobody knows us better than ourselves. What makes my mind feel calm might not calm another person. What gives me joy might not give another person the same. Hence, it’s important to identify the things that can make us feel good and detoxify the mind regularly. It could be –
- Going for a brunch with your school friends
- A solo weekend gateway
- Learning that long awaited wish of swimming/playing guitar/baking
- Spending a day with your nieces/nephews
- Having a video call with your cousins who are miles apart
- Relishing the street food till your heart’s content
- Watching El Clásico match live with your friends
Be it small or big, you should constantly reach out to these things if it can feed your mind with warmth and joy to move forward happily in life.
2. Pray:
Praying can be defined in many forms. It could be the communication we have with our creator; the bond or connection we build towards the positivity around us; energy that keeps us hopeful and grateful in life, etc.
Regardless of the religious practices of worship we follow, every religion teaches us to pray to stay hopeful and never give up in life. The best part about this devotion is that it starts with good intention and ends also with good intention.
Praying has a strong connection with our minds as it enables us to free our minds from negativity and distractions and makes us focus deeper on the matter. But sometimes due to the busy life we live in, we might miss out finding time for this beautiful act of positivity, which would result in anxiety and restlessness of mind.

Therefore, we must bring in more positivity and achieve enlightenment to stay connected with the goodness around us. We can do that by simply following this significant step regularly.
- Clear toxicity from your mind and make space for positivity -
The amount of toxicity that gets into our mind can cause us more harm than a physical injury sometimes. Hence, an act of enlightenment that detoxifies our mind brings in hope, and reconnect us towards the positivity should be highly considered. It could be –
- Following a daily interaction with your creator
- Practicing meditation or yoga
- Getting rid of your ego
- Forgiving others and yourself
- Removing toxic people from your life
- Taking a break and having a self-evaluation
- Connecting yourself to the nature
- Participating in community services
It might not give you an immediate result. But as you practice it regularly, you would eventually realize how powerful it is, as it surrounds your mind with positivity and keeps your thoughts fresh.
3. Love:
Love also has taken many forms as the world evolved, such as the love for people, god, food, humanity, nature and the most important one - self-love.
Take a minute and have a quick check on the time you have got or spent for yourself (‘me-time’) during the last week. If it is above 7 hours, then I can say that you didn’t fully forget to love yourself. But if you were unable to spend even an hour in a day for yourself, then trust me it’s a matter of concern.
In simple terms, prioritizing our healthy state of mind, mental peace, self-respect, self-acceptance and happiness defines our self-love. But due to lack of enough time or high responsibilities, prioritizing ourselves would be the last thing we do these days. This could result in an inability to know our self-worth, having a negative self-image, and feelings of emptiness.
Hence, it is crucial to maintain a strong connection with ourselves to stay happy and peaceful and it can be achieved by following a simple important step.
- Create a healthy relationship with yourself and nurture it well -
A study conducted by the researchers of the University at Buffalo (UB), New York in 2017, had mentioned that showing a little solitude can actively improve our state of mind. They have found out that people who spend 'me time' were more creative and less stressed and depressed than others. (Deccan Chronicle)
No matter how busy our lives are, no matter what we are burdened with, no matter how far we think we have crossed, we still have to find a way to love ourselves. It could be in any tiny possible way, such as –
- Giving yourself a break
- Taking care of your physical and mental health
- Pursuing a hobby
- Taking a salon treatment
- Ensuring to add fun elements in your life
- Working on your insecurities and emotional balance
- Prioritizing your mental peace
- Learning to say a ‘NO’

Our journey of life becomes blissful when we start cultivating self-love. Only when you learn to value yourself; accept everything that comes along with you; and prioritize your mental peace, you can turn everything around and find the right balance of life.
Summary:
Our lives would be getting busier with new plans, rising responsibilities, and strict schedules, with each passing day. And that’s the time when most of our lives get monotonous. We might possibly reach a point where we feel disconnected with life and it further brings a lot of negativity our way.
As I mentioned in the beginning, magical gadgets don’t exist to flip our lives. But we can definitely take some baby steps that can have a huge impact on us. Hence, the three little things – ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ becomes an integral part of our lives to safeguard our mind and get us closer to a positive life.

Detoxify your mind and get reconnected to your life by:
- Eat - Feed your mind correctly and regularly
- Pray - Clear toxicity from your mind and make space for positivity
- Love - Create a healthy relationship with yourself and nurture it well
The only challenge that would come across our way would be the time we take to realize the need for making these changes in our lives. I know it isn't easy to make the transition in a single day. But we can surely take some time out in a day and plan how we are going to implement it, right? Consider all the factors and circumstances in our lives and plan the best to tackle the three little things by taking one step at a time.

Understand that having an appetite for life is extremely important for your well-being. Be it today or later, please 'Eat, Pray, Love' to get yourself reconnected to life because you and your needs are important too.
