2021 doesn’t seem any better than 2020. The second wave of Covid-19 has hit us like a vast tidal wave, and people are shaken. Day by day, it’s getting worse, and I’m frightened like all of you about the uncertainty it brings.
The daily news of rising infections, poor healthcare infrastructure, and many people losing their lives is overwhelming and giving us major panic attacks.
However, understand that this is just a phase. This too shall pass, and the world where you and I exist would be back to alright.
This blog post highlights how to keep your mind calm amidst the pandemic chaos. It is written for all the people terrified by witnessing the worsening state of the Covid-19 second wave, hoping to shed some positivity and strength.

Pandemic is hitting us stronger:
2021 sees a more substantial surge of Covid-19, and it is pretty devastating to watch the worsening situation, especially in India.
Lakhs of people are getting infected daily, and thousands are losing their lives battling with the virus. Adding to that, the healthcare system's inability to cater to the needs of the infected people is making us petrified.
Nobody was prepared for a world like this. Hence it is overwhelming and bringing stress, anxiety and numbness to the people.

Let’s be strong and be prepared:
I came to India a month ago from Bahrain, and the immediate issue I faced was the increased anxiety and stress due to the sudden surge of Covid-19 cases in India.
All the heart-breaking images, videos, and news floating around in media about Covid-19 are horrific and emotionally draining.
Despite thousands of frontline health workers spending their day and night to save people’s lives, it still is making the situation go from bad to worst.
The biggest fear people have right now is the uncertainty of the situation. People are aware that things can turn around in no time, and it could be you or me who would be in the place of struggling people.
However, the only way to get away from this emotional trauma is to be strong, accept the scenario and be prepared to face it if it comes our way.

There is always a light at the end of the tunnel:
If you glance through the pandemic history of our world, there has always been a phase of profound difficulty and struggle after an outbreak. But the good news is that it was obviously followed by a healing period, which enabled the world and people to get back to normalcy.
Similarly, Covid-19 would also end, and we don't have to wait forever for that day. Unlike 2020, we have vaccines now, and it is a matter of time until everybody gets their hands on them. Furthermore, medical science is continuing with its advanced research to contain the virus in every possible way, which gives us hope.
But for now, the ball is in our court. We need to strictly observe the safety measures such as wearing a mask, following social distancing, washing hands often, avoiding public gathering, staying maximum at home, etc., to remain safe and not put ourselves and our family in trouble.

8 tips to keep your mind calm during this challenging time:
1. Reduce your media exposure.

2. Take a break.

3. Talk to the people who can cheer up your mood.

4. Do things that you love to do.

5. Get sufficient sleep.

6. Donate whatever you can to help the affected people.

7. Be kind to each other and be there for each other.

8. Pray for the well-being of mankind.

To sum it up:
I know it isn’t easy to stay calm when people around us are battling for their lives. But the scenario doesn’t get any better if we panic or stress over it. It is literally a privilege right now if you and I are staying at home and are Covid free.
Hence, rather than getting anxious over the pandemic, you need to focus on following the precautionary measures and taking care of people around you responsibly. Also, get yourself vaccinated as soon as it is available for you. Let’s stay hopeful and firmly believe that this too shall pass, and we will see a better tomorrow soon.

Sending lots of love, strength, healing, and prayers to all the people affected by the pandemic, people who have lost their dear ones, and people who are scared and stressing over it. A big round of applause to the frontline health workers, who are the real heroes putting their lives at risk to save our lives.
Stay Safe. This too shall pass!
